Kilkenny were in tremendous form in this All Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship clash against the Kildare in John Locke Park on Saturday and they registered a handsome win

The winners were off the mark quickly. Ciara Phelan shot a point in the first minute and by the eight minute they were five up after Laura Greene, Lydia Fitzpatrick, Katie Nolan and Hannah Scott all scored from play

Aoife Prendergast put the Cats further ahead when she pointed a 30m free on 10 minutes

Kildare were struggling. They grabbed their first score 2 minutes later when Lea Sutton pointed a 20m free only for Katie Nolan to reply with a similar score for the homeside

The Noresiders extended their lead when Aoife Prendergast fired over after some great teamwork from defence. Kilkenny were 7 points clear after 20 minutes

Lea Sutton and Katie Nolan exchanged pointed frees to end the first half scoring

Those exchanges left the home side leading by 0-9 to 0-2

When play resumed in the new half Kilkenny went about their business with intent. They added 3 quick points through Laura Murphy, Lydia Fitzpatrick and Katie Nolan from a 25m free

After a brief lull in the scoring, Lea Sutton had the Lilywhites first score of the half when she shot over a free. The winners replied with a well taken goal by Katie Nolan on 45 minutes to see them leading by 12 points entering the final quarter

Lea Sutton who was the visitors only scorer, shot over another pointed free a minute later

Laura Murphy put the next 3 points on the ‘board for the Cats but Lea Sutton landed a beautifully sideline ball for a 2 pointer

It was all one-way traffic from there to the finish

Marie Doheny shot to the net when the Kildare keeper misjudged the flight of the ball

As play went into additional time substitute Kelly Hamilton fired over a point from play and Katie Nolan had the final say when she shot a goal from a penalty and a pointed free to leave the score at the final whistle Kilkenny 3-17 Kildare 0-6
